St. Gregorios Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is a parish of the South-West Diocese of America of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India. The Parish was established on April 26, 1978, in Evanston, Illinois, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Aroopala, the first vicar. He was followed by Rev. Fr. K. G. Daniel and Rev. Fr. M. K. Thomas. The parish celebrated its 25th year of establishment (Silver Jubilee) in 2003. The Rev. Dr. V. M. Abraham and Rev. Dr. George Pulikkottil served as assistant vicars and Rev. Fr. V. M. Shibu serves as the assistant vicar. Rev. Fr. Paul P. Issac attends the church and participates in many of the activities of the Church.

The Church provides its members opportunities for worship, fellowship, study and service through various ministries. The Holy Eucharist is offered every Sunday and feast days of the Church. Sunday School, Kids For Christ (KFC), Boys ministry (PHAT), Girls ministry, Students Ministry (MGOCSM), Ministry for young couples (FOCUS), Youth Movement, Lay Theological Training (Divyabodha nam), Women’s Ministry (MMVS), and Area and Common Prayer fellowship are the chief ministries. Also, the parish started an annual conference for children (NUHRO) in 2006 and an annual Parish Family Conference (BAITHO) in 2008 for spiritual growth and fellowship. Apart from these ministries, the parish conducts area wise Bible studies and retreats for its members. The parish provides various community service projects both in America and in India as part of its mission to the society. This parish is actively participating in various programs of the Ecumenical Council of Kerala Churches in Chicago.
